Each year we begin anew with lofty resolutions, determined to shed the past, shed the weight, start saving, searching for a new job, setting educational goals, and so on. But before we get to that we should take a moment, perhaps more often than not, to honor those who came before us. During Kwanzaa we are allowed an opportunity to not only remember our ancestors by offering libations, but we are able to do this collectively. We share the memories which are sometimes triumphant, sometimes painful, with a group of like minds and spirits. We encourage you to pour libations as often as possible, perhaps in your daily prayers, meditations or other rituals. If you feel so inclined use the comment box below to share the name of that wonderful person or persons who have transitioned. Together, we can invoke these spirits, ask for guidance, and perhaps NOW you may be empowered to set resolutions for your new year. - Ase'
