The dead rise from their graves!

Following the events of the American Civil War, Dread Nation gives a "twist" on history and sets the stage for an incredible zombie thriller.  In this new look on the War and its results, the South doesn't surrender, and the dead begin to rise up on the battlefields of Gettysburg and Chancellorsville.

Author Justina Ireland (IG @ Justina.Ireland) explores what would've happened had zombies (or shamblers, as they're called) put a hault on the war and all Americans had to come together to battle the undead.  Just like in the times leading up to the Civil War, black and native people are forced to fight the shamblers.

There is nonstop action (and violence - you've been warned!), lots of historical references, and many diverse and complex characters to follow and love - or hate!  In the book, we find doses of
racism, classism, feminism, sexism, and bigotry, all of which were true to the time period and some of which exist today as if nothing has changed!

Take a listen to the author's "Slay List" and other great information about the book.
Then get to reading!!  It's on the shelves of practically every public library.
