DIASPORICALLY SPEAKING - WHAt's ON Your MIND?!?

3/17/2020

Our libraries are closed and so Poetic Power is on hiatus until at least April 6th!!

But, we can't be silenced, right?  To vote, to not vote.  To hide, to socialize.  We are truly in a state of confusion.  What are YOUR circumstances?  Are you on paid leave, furloughed, laid off or simply have no idea where you are right now?!?  What gives, and what do we do as a collective nation of people?  We need to remain connected, vigilant and smart now more than ever so that we come out of this madness with our heads on straight, our spirits intact and proud that we seized the opportunities that were presented before us.

What's your move?  The floor is open!  Comment below or share a poem HERE.

 - Your Brother, Ali

How long do you think the quarantine will last since voting was delayed until June?

I talked to family in D.C. and Memphis and they all believe that school is over for this year. If children are out of school then how in the world will parents be able to work? If the quarantine is extended and they do go back to school, the inner-city youth will have no way of keeping up. Even if they have laptops, they will need wi-fi! So, I feel that we all need to be quarantined or nobody is quarantined. And they need to get those checks in the mail asap!

Stock up on canned goods, dry goods, boxed& bagged, personal hygiene products, detergents & cleaning products. Only perishables that you will eat up in a week.like freshfruit & vegetables
You might have to start making your own bread.
Stores run out of it quickly.Try biscuits, rolls &muffins

I've been reading library ebooks, cleaning, board games, watching Netflix documentaries, baking, walks in the park, you name it. What are you all doing at home this week?

Is there a list of black businesses and their status (open or closed) during the quarantine? How can we support them during and plans after the quarantine has been lifted?
