Choukouya Resto-Bar pronounced cho-koy-yah is located in the very pleasant Warrensville Heights, Ohio community at 4269 Richmond Road. The owners are West African natives and have managed to serve up the yummiest traditional African dishes. They even have some exquisite dishes from Cameroon. The food is amazing and authentic. I loved the famous Jollof rice and veggie and meat pies, and simply could not get enough of their African ginger juice. It is their own homemade recipe.

The atmosphere is energetic. Each booth has a vibrant color theme and there is a massive gold Africa shaped table in the meeting room. Our journey to Choukouya Resto bar was just like traveling home to Africa the owners cooks staff all had a welcoming kindness that made everyone feel at home. They even allowed me to feature my new book, Learn From Our Truth, at one of their fashion events!! So much love for the culture and Diaspora. Next time you’re in Warrensville Heights, OH make sure you stop by. You’ll be glad you did! I promise.

Finally, there is another African store in N.E. Ohio! Africa Art has opened on the east side of Cleveland this fall and does not disappoint. The owner has another store in the Richmond Mall (OH) and has been bringing amazing items from the motherland to the Cleveland area for over a decade now.

He is always welcoming, appreciative and ready to make a deal! Uplyff, Inc. was there last week for the final Ujamaa Circle of the year and capped off the visit with music by the drum and bass duo of Hashtag Virgo and poetry from Dana Grant.

<![CDATA[Reparations: The Conversation Continues]]>Wed, 31 May 2017 07:00:00 GMThttps://warriorspulse.org/economics/reparations-the-conversation-continuesMost of the gap in wealth disparities between Blacks in the US and whites is in housing equity. One of the biggest issues on Obama's long list of burdens when he became president was the pending doom of the housing market. So then the big corporations got a bailout but what about families? Combine decades of discrimination by federal housing policy with a fatal explosion of the housing bubble and many would argue that government intervention (or lack thereof) is the sole reason for the gap in wealth.

Perhaps reparation demands need to be reconstructed into real estate laws to reverse the racist policies that prevented Black investment in the first place. Ta-nehisi Coates stated in his narrative "The Case for Reparations" that s
omething more than moral pressure calls America to reparations. It is the glaring reality that we cannot escape our history. Yvette Carnell poses opposing viewpoints below.

Things are looking bad for our regal Karamu. It won't be easy fast or cheap but it looks like newly appointed CEO Tony Sias is pulling up his sleeves to fight. He's already made monumental changes to help with the inevitable transformation to get Karamu's finances back on track. Afi Scruggs does some research into exactly what happened.

When FUBU founder and Shark Tank host Daymond John hit Cleveland I wasn't the only person to flock into the event to gain from his insight on starting or growing a new business.

Daymond was not there this time but he sent his best leaders with a resounding message. Stop trying to do it all yourself! Build a team of trusted motivated stars to have your back and you can do anything.
